Dinaluhan ni Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi (DOE) ang Ceremonial Signing ng Petroleum Service Contract (PSC) para sa Area 4 (East Palawan Basin) ng Fifth Philippine Energy Contracting Round (PECR5) sa Presidents 'Hall of Malacanang Palace .

Pinirmahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte ang PSC sa ngalan ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas. Kasama Sec. Si Cusi bilang saksi, habang si Mr. Itay Raphael Tabibzada, Pangulo at CEO ng kumpanya, ay nag-sign para sa Israeli firm, Ratio Petroleum Ltd.

Sinabi ni Cusi na ang naging kontrata ay mainam para sa relasyon sa ekonomya ng Pilipinas at Israel, pati na rin sa paglago ng industriya ng petrolyo ng bansa.

“The President has been very clear – our country needs to attain energy security and sustainability at the soonest possible time. We are currently experiencing how our dependence on importation has left us at the mercy of price movements in the global oil markets. We need to boost the exploration and development of our own energy resources and the awarding of the petroleum service contract to Ratio Petroleum is a step in the right direction,” sabi ni Cusi

Maaari ng magsimula sa paghahanap ng langis ang Ration Petroleum sa Area 4, na sumasaklaw sa 416,000 ektarya sa East Palawan Basin. Ang inaasahang kabuuang gastos sa exploration ay nagkakahalaga ng US$34,350,000 sa unang pitong taon na tagal ng kontrata.
